On an abandoned railroad, at an abandoned
railroad depot and abandoned junction, stand five railroad cars. Three railroad
macadam cars, a snowplough car (*, and perhaps as the most intriguing of them
all — the prison transport car.
Traffic at the depot began in 1938 and
ended in 1985. The cars in particular were probably brought there sometime
later. Anyway, in we went, and pictures were taken.
(* On the other hand, I have to note that snowplough cars have always had a special place in my UE-nerve. Probably the first “UE-site” I ever visited was one of those. It was a car that had been sitting on a service rail next to one of our friend group’s favourite playgrounds for as long as we could remember — abandoned. At the ripe age of nine or ten, we finally got the nerve to jump across the tracks and sneak in…)
